    Jon and Tania

    $3,255.00 raised
    GOAL: $6,000.00

Johnathan and his wife, Holly, moved to Murfreesboro in 2002 from Lexington, Kentucky after meeting at the University of Kentucky. Though bourbon, basketball, and bluegrass are still in his blood, his family and he love living in Middle Tennessee. As the director of Transformation Office for Newell Brands, Jon's work has enabled him to travel all over the world. He has been based out of cities such as Chicago, New York City and Atlanta, but Johnathan and Holly have been intentional about keeping Murfreesboro their home. In his free time, he loves coaching soccer, playing guitar and watching movies with his family. Johnathan’s family has been affected by breast cancer, and he watched his mother-in-law face the challenges of reconstruction first-hand. His hope is to bring awareness to the issue and help make it a little easier for some of those affected to deal with the situation.

    Carla and Riley

    $4,127.00 raised
    GOAL: $4,000.00

Carla is an island girl gone country. She is originally from St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, with a family of West Indian descent. She and her family moved to Texas during the big oil days in the ‘70s where her family settled. Carla visited the Murfreesboro with friends when she was 20 and fell in love, not only with Tennessee, but a gentleman from this great state.

She moved here when she turned 21 and has never looked back. Carla graduated from MTSU with a degree in psychology. Since, she and her husband purchased a farm and began raising angus cattle and children. Carla is the mother of three kids between the ages of 8 and 13, who are her life. They lost her husband and their father, an Army veteran, in January of 2015 very suddenly and have been on a grief journey trying to move forward and live a fearless life to its fullest.

As part of the healing process, Carla is working toward starting her own non-profit to help widows and widowers who are currently facing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless to help them put their lives back together with purpose. She enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, bad sci-fi movies, judge shows, great food and wine.
